Twenty-seven talented students in Manatee and Sarasota counties won regional honors earlier this year in the Suncoast Campaign for Grade-Level Reading Attendance Awareness Poster Contest. About 38,000 students from 83 schools participated in the contest, which was sponsored by The Patterson Foundation. The goal was to raise awareness about the importance of attending school every day. Attendance is one of three community solution areas the Suncoast Campaign for Grade-Level Reading is focusing on. The other two are increasing school readiness and providing quality summer learning opportunities. For more information on the campaign, go to www.thepattersonfoundation.org/grade-level-reading.html.
